Rumford Hospital's Emergency Department team includes board-certified emergency physicians and registered nurses.  The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by members of the team.

Med-Care is a privately owned ambulance service located in Mexico, ME, which serves the11 surrounding towns - Andover, Byron, Canton, Carthage, Dixfield, Hanover, Mexico, Newry, Peru, Roxbury and Rumford.

In addition to emergency and transport ambulances services, Med-Care offers classes in emergency response, including CPR. Med-Care asks community members to make a commitment to themselves, their families and their co-workers by being trained to make a difference in the event of an emergency. In 1994 Rumford Hospital's affiliate Central Maine Medical Center was designated as one of Maine's three trauma centers, with the special resources needed to care for the most seriously injured patients.  More recently, CMMC became a launch site for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.
