Rumford Hospital's Emergency Department team includes board-certified emergency physicians and registered nurses.  The department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by members of the team.

In 1994 Rumford Hospital's affiliate Central Maine Medical Center was designated as one of Maine's three trauma centers, with the special resources needed to care for the most seriously injured patients.  CMMC is also a launch site for LifeFlight of Maine, the state's only medical helicopter service.

The Rumford Hospital Emergency Department is equipped with monitors at every bedside, ultrasound equipment, backed by Medical Imaging diagnostics and a full-service laboratory.
