Rumford Hospital Offers Comprehensive
Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The goal of Rumford Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is to help patients with cardiac issues improve their quality of life.

We offer an individually-tailored, multidisciplinary program. With accurate diagnosis, therapy, emotional support, reconditioning and education, we help patients achieve the highest possible functional capacity allowed by their physical limitations and life situation. Our program, which also includes physical activities and exercise, is known as LifeStrides.

People with the following diagnoses may qualify for Cardiac Rehab:

  • Stable Angina
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Valve Repair or Replacement
  • Angioplasty
  • Stents

Additional diagnoses may qualify.

Our education programs include information about topics such as living with heart disease, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, the risk factors for heart disease, nutrition, family dynamics, cholesterol, medications, stress management, and more.

The CR program is covered by most insurance companies and third- party payers such as Medicare and MaineCare. Rumford Hospital will bill your insurance company directly. It is best to call your insurance company to learn about coverage. If you need additional assistance, you may contact the RH business office at 1-888-869-3101.

Where is the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department?

Cardiac Rehab is located on the second floor of Rumford Hospital at 420 Franklin St in Rumford, Maine.

What sort of exercise resources does CR provide?

The CR department was completely renovated in 2010 and includes 15 pieces of new exercise equipment, hand weights and other exercise options.

We also hold classes for our patients on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Family members are welcome to attend. Many of our patients enjoy coming to these classes, which include an individually-designed program of exercise and physical conditioning, relaxation training, and/or support group interaction for patients and their families.
